The three layers
Intrinsic properties
Stable facts stored with the artifact: form, origin, declared audience, provenance, and explicit gaps.
Contextual dimensions
Calculated interpretations such as fitness, refinement, urgency, health, and usefulness for a particular audience.
Operational rules
Consequences: gates, routing, review, remediation, lifecycle events, and automation.
Why the separation matters
Collapsing these layers makes metadata unstable and automation difficult to audit. J-Editorial keeps stored properties distinct from calculations and workflow policy, making each decision easier to trace and revise.
Implementation status
Parts of the model are operationalized in Doc Doctor’s schemas, stubs, calculations, and lifecycle work. The framework remains under development; no standalone release exists yet.
